JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Hinds County Sheriff wants to keep his badge on for another four years.  Sheriff Malcolm McMillin said he will run for re-election.  He made the announcement at the annual Hinds County Sheriff's employee awards dinner Thursday.  McMillin said he was proud of his time in office and the deputies that surrounded him, but still sees a lot of work yet to be done.

"We've got a job to do.  A lot of work ahead of us.  I think we're on the right path.  We've been on the right path.  It's just a question of keeping ourselves at the wheel, doing what we need to do," said Sheriff McMillin.

Sheriff McMillin was elected to the position back in 1992.   He also served as Jackson's Police Chief for 19 months under former Mayor Frank Melton in 2007 and 2008.
