JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Gas prices were on the rise across the United States Friday. According to AAA, the average price for regular gasoline in Mississippi is $2.95. On average nationwide, it is $3.10 The highest in more than two years.
Grocery prices are also increasing and unfortunately, employment, is not on the rise. Surveys find higher fuel and food prices this month are lowering consumer confidence.
"They are way too high, way too high for too long and they're cutting in to my fun money," said driver Regina Kennedy of Pearl.
"They're very high. They cut my budget, the money I could play with my grandchildren on," said driver Jane Magee of Jackson.
"It's getting outrageous. It's hard for people to make ends meet and with the economy today. That's the last thing we need is higher gas prices," said Karen Holmes of Jackson.
