61-year-old charged in Natchez arson fire

NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a 61-year-old Natchez woman has been charged with arson.

Police Chief Mike Mullins says Ntianu Uzoamaka Long, or Tia Long, was arrested Saturday. She's a former resident of Carpenter Apartments, which was damaged by fire last week.

Mullins says the case remains under investigation. Officials say Long was in the process of moving out of her apartment, when it caught fire early Tuesday.

Fire crews contained the fire to the single apartment, but other apartments in the unit suffered smoke damage.
