WEIRTON, WV (NBC) - Police in Weirton, West Virginia say a traffic violation led to high-speed chase that ended with a stolen car crashing in a ditch Friday.
The suspect, Daniel Machen, was arraigned Friday morning on charges of reckless driving, failure to yield and fleeing from police.
Machen was driving a car that was reported stolen.
Police said the incident started when Machen left a gas station and pulled in front of moving traffic in front of a police officer.
Dashcam video shows the officer quickly attempting to stop the car.
Machen fled, weaving his vehicle in and out of traffic at speeds close to 60 miles per hour.
Eventually the car slid into a ditch, narrowly missing a telephone pole and billboard.
