HATTIESBURG,MS (WDAM)- Four people have been arrested in the first raid on a Hattiesburg business accused of selling the synthetic drug spice.

Authorities say tips from citizens prompted a search warrant for the Ra shop, located across from the entrance of Southern Miss, where members of the Strike and Net teams found over 2,000 packages of alleged Spice.

According to authorities the street value of the alleged substance is over $85,000.  Both Hattiesburg and the state of Mississippi banned the sale of the synthetic drug in 2010.

Special opps arrested  25-year-old Christopher Lindhal, 19-year-old Margret Scidline, 23-year-old Alfred C. Jordan and 20-year-old Stephen Perry on felony charges of possession and sale of spice.

Police Sgt. Alan Murray says the public can play a major role is getting rid of the illegal drugs.

"We encourage the citizens. If you notice anything going on illegal whether it is marijuana, spice or anything else just please gives us a call. Let us know what you got going on. You don't have to worry about your name being put out there or anyone coming after you. We will take it from there," said Murray.

Murray says that Spice carries the same penalty as Marijuana. Anything over an ounce is a felony.
