JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Mississippi Supreme Court will allow a number of news organizations to file legal papers in support of our Raycom sister station WDAM.
The station, based in Hattiesburg, suggests they should be allowed to broadcast video showing abuse at a juvenile detention center in Forrest County.
On January 13th, WDAM asked the Supreme Court to lift the ban ordered by Youth Court Judge Mike McPhail.
McPhail barred the TV station from broadcasting the video saying it would jeopardize juvenile privacy. News organizations showing support for wdam include the Mississippi Association Of Broadcasters, The New York Times, and The Associated Press.
The station says neither the youth court or the state has shown reason to stop the usage of the video.
The Forrest County Youth Court has until Tuesday to respond to WDAM's complaint.
