Arrest made in Copiah County murder

COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - Authorities have made an arrest in the murder of James L. Shelton.

The 53 year old man was shot and killed Sunday night at his home on Shelton Lane, Pattison in rural west Copiah County.

According to Coroner Ellis Stuart, Shelton was shot in the back of the head at "contact or close range" possibly with a 12 gauge shotgun.

The Copiah Co. sheriff was not available late Monday to discuss the case.

There is no information on the shooting suspect.
