JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A north Jackson nurse is having problems with a local contractor.

The contractor was hired to fix her home's shifting foundation.

But instead, he left a mess and disappeared.

The house is on Pine Hill Drive, that's in the Fondren section of the capital city.

The house is of English Tudor style on what was once one of the nicest streets in north Jackson, Pine Hill Drive.

It is just one block west of North State Street in the council circle area.

It was originally built in 1937.

An addition to the house has started to slant downward.

To deal with the foundation problems, Baptist Hospital nurse Cricket McIlwaine and her husband Jason hired a contractor recommended to them by the name of Robert Bates of Eye Watch Maintenance.

Bates came out and dug a three foot ditch around the back door of the home in October.

Bates repeatedly told Cricket McIlwaine it was too wet work on the project.

No further work has been done.

"I'm so upset, so frustrated. This man told me that he was a man of god, that he was true to his word and I'm not seeing it," McIlwaine said.

The contractor agreed to meet WLBT and Cricket McIlwaine's husband Jason at the house.

They had a confrontation and finally agreed to settle the matter in court.

"I told them more than one time that I'm not going to finish it when its wet," Bates said.

"I want my money back because I've got someone else who doesn't have a problem with that stump," Jason McIlwaine said.

"We'll settle it in court," said Bates. "You can't get no money back as far as you get work done on that part of the house over there."

So this 3 On Your Side Report will end up in court.
