HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A judge has sentenced 22-year-old Gregory Eugene Mootye to three consecutive life terms after he was convicted on three counts of murder.
A Forrest County jury convicted Mootye Wednesday in the February 2010 deaths of 49-year-old Alesia Twillie, her pregnant daughter, 26-year-old Anjelica Twillie, and Anjelica Twillie's unborn son.
The Twillies' bodies were discovered in their home. Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict said the women died from gunshot and stab wounds.
Defense attorneys say the convictions will be appealed.
Prosecutors told jurors the motive for the murders was Mootye's belief that Anjelica Twillie was carrying his child, whom he didn't wish to be born.
Testimony at the trial was that the child was not fathered by Mootye.
