JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Allstate Insurance Agent Mark Rushing posted the following message on his company Facebook page: "I'm not doing as good as (I) should about updating my business page...I'll get the hang of it before too long...".

About an hour later, he found himself in handcuffs, getting placed into a Hinds County Deputy's cruiser. Authorities seized computers at his business and say they found pornographic images of preteen girls on them.

Later Wednesday, Ridgeland Police seized three computers from Rushing's home in the Shadowood subdivision. "At this time those computers are being sent to the Attorney General's office for forensic examination to determine if there may be some additional evidence on those," says Ridgeland Police Lieutenant John Neal.

Right now, the 33-year-old, who is married with no children, faces no charges in Ridgeland.

A mental health professional at Region 8 in Brandon says the urge to look at child porn can stem from loneliness or the failure to connect with others. Because the images are easy to download, offenders might not realize the consequences of what they're doing.

Richard McMullan, Children's Services Director at Region 8 Mental Health in Brandon, describes what might be the mindset of someone rationalizing child pornography. "Here it is, readily available, I'm sure many people are doing this so why shouldn't I do this," he says.

But if such devious behavior goes unchecked, it can snowball.

"A lot of time it's viewing the material over a repeated period of time that can desensitize the individual, the human aspect of an individual they may target," he says. "Yes, it can be a gateway. Often is a gateway."

Some of the signs to look out for in people are erratic behavior, antisocial behavior, and spending lots of time alone on the computer.
