JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Mississippi lawmakers have advanced a bill that would outlaw protesting at funerals.
House bill 1215 was passed by the House, 115 to 3, Thursday and now goes to the Senate for more work.
For intentionally disrupting a funeral, penalties would include a year in prison and a $5,000 fine.
The bill originated because of a Kansas church group that hold signs blaming U.S. military deaths on the nations tolerance of homosexuality.
