Minor, 2 ex-judges set for re-sentencing March 10

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Imprisoned former Mississippi attorney Paul Minor and two former judges are now scheduled for re-sentencing March 10 in a judicial corruption case.

Minor and former Harrison County judges Wes Teel and John Whitfield must be re-sentenced because a federal appeals court vacated their bribery convictions. The appeals court upheld honest services fraud convictions against each of the men and Minor's racketeering conviction.

The re-sentencing had been scheduled for Jan. 20 in U.S. District Court in Jackson. It wasn't immediately clear why the hearing was canceled.

Minor's attorneys have also asked the court to throw out the trio's remaining convictions, based on recent court rulings that limit the scope of honest services fraud.
