JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The State Attorney General's office has dropped charges of sexual abuse against a suspended highway patrolman.
Dane Davenport was put on unpaid administrative leave when he was indicted in Warren County, January 2008.
His first trial there in 2008 had a deadlocked jury. Davenport was acquitted in 2009 on a related molestation charge in Oktibbeha County and he was acquitted in Warren County last March.
Attorney General Jim Hood says the alleged victims asked for dismissal of the charges. In a statement to WLBT, Hood said, in part, "They have been through enough and are ready to move on."
