MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Memphis Police said a seven-year-old boy saved his older sister from a potential rapist Thursday.
Police charged Freddick Scullark with soliciting the rape of a child and attempted kidnapping after he grabbed the 13-year-old girl.
The seven-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl passed the house at 744 Alma where they had a disturbing encounter with Scullark.
"She ended up coming back like five minutes later, out of breath, crying," said the children's aunt. "She was like, 'this man tried to snatch me up in the house.'"
According to the affidavit, Scullark grabbed the 13-year-old girl's arm, offered her money for sex and tried to pull her inside. She got away because the seven-year-old boy interfered.
"My little nephew was like, 'I was fighting him off. I was kicking,'" said their aunt. "If my nephew wasn't there with my niece, it would have been a totally different outcome."
Clarence Johnson lives on Alma. He said Scullark's arrest is alarming but not extraordinary.
"We have pedophiles from this end all the way down to the other end," said Johnson.
According to a map and database, a total of 96 registered sex offenders live with a mile radius of the house at Alma.
Scullark is not a registered sex offender, but is in jail on a $75,000 bond and charged with attempted kidnapping and soliciting the rape of a child.
The girl's aunt said her niece is emotionally scarred.
"She don't even want to come outside no more," she said. "She ain't even been wanting to go to school no more since that happened. She said she don't trust nobody no more."
The aunt said her nephew is a quiet kid and a good school student.
