JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Central Mississippi is thawing out from two days of freezing rain and precipitation with the return of sunshine and warmer temperatures.
Many motorists found themselves dealing with icy road conditions Friday, resulting in some crashes when their vehicles lost traction.
Most accidents occurred when people attempted to cross bridges and over passes. Motorists traveling through The Stack were trapped inside their vehicles for hours. A series of accidents caused the traffic slowdown.
WLBT also received pictures from viewers sharing the lighter side of coping with the freezing conditions. Gage Allen of MccCmb emailed a picture of himself standing on the frozen water in his goat's water tub and a Lincoln County viewer sent this picture of a back yard jungle gym frozen solid Friday.
