Traffic-signal failure causes major backup

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A malfunctioning signal caused a massive traffic back-up in Jackson and Flowood Tuesday morning.

The traffic light at Lakeland Drive and Ridgewood Road stopped working around 7:30. The resulting back-up stretched for several miles back into Flowood.

A Jackson police officer was on the scene, but no one was directing traffic.

Drivers treated it as a four-way stop until the signal was back in service around 8:30.
