JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - With a deep, cold air mass in place and an upper level low pressure disturbance expected to move across the state Wednesday, snow is possible across some portions of the WLBT viewing area.

The moisture will begin falling as rain and change over to snow around Noon Wednesday across the Mississippi delta counties. Higher accumulations of snow will be possible in this area due to the snowfall beginning there first with an expected 3"-4" of snow.

As the system moves into central Mississippi later in the day, accumulating snow could reach 2" along the Natchez Trace Parkway. Counties south of the Natchez Trace Parkway could see rain mixed with snow with accumulations of less than 1".

The time of day the snow begins will determine the amount of accumulating snow as well as the temperature.

Portions of the WLBT viewing area are currently under a Winter Storm Watch through Wednesday night.
