JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Dixie National Livestock Show is well underway and now folks are getting ready for the start of the rodeo.

Cowboys representing nearly forty states, as well as international destinations like Australia, Mexico, New Zealand and Canada, will compete in the rodeo.

In addition to the rodeo, 4-H students and Future Farmers of America participants are also competing in a number of livestock events.

Tori Willis, a 4-H member says, "The goal is really to learn more responsibility, how to care for our animals, how to set goals and then achieve them. I've been working on my bloodline for about ten years now, so its really exciting to see the culmination of that project."

The Dixie National Rodeo gets underway Thursday. Other rodeo activities include the wagon train which rolls through Thursday and Friday. The Dixie National Rodeo dance is on Friday and Saturday. The parade is also Saturday.
