MADISON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The latest round of winter weather created plenty of headaches on roads north of Jackson.  The driver of a Medstat ambulance lost control and slid off I-55 at about 4 a.m. Thursday.

It happened at mile marker 128 on the Madison-Yazoo County line.  Just in front of the Big Black River the emergency vehicle slipped off the interstate, missing the guardrail eventually colliding with some trees in a wooded area.

Sgt. James Walker with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said there was no patient on board and the two first responders on board were hospitalized with minor injuries.

MDOT reports that Icing on bridges and overpasses will continue to pose problems for drivers as long as the temperature stays below the freezing mark for much of central-north Mississippi.
