Local charity benefits from cookbook fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hard work from the sale of cookbooks has paid off in a big way for the Ronald McDonald House.

The Jackson and Vicksburg branches of Dillard's department store presented officials with a check for $31,000 dollars Thursday morning.

The generous donation was all made possible through the Southern Living Christmas Cookbook.

The money will help support various programs at Ronald McDonald House.

"This year through the sale of cookbooks, we have seen the biggest hit for our customers and in our store alone, we sold twenty hundred cookbooks this year," said George Tanner, manager of Dillard's Northpark.

Over the years, Dillard's stores have sold special holiday music CDs, cameras and other items for various fundraising efforts.
