RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Two people were taken to the hospital after a beer truck plows into a building in Rankin County.  The wreck happened around 1:00 Thursday afternoon on Star Road at Thomasville Road.  It is located in the Thomasville Community east of Florence.

A view from Skycopter 3 showed where the truck plowed into an abandoned building on Star Road.

"The Miller Lite truck was apparently coming over the hill," said Shell Road Volunteer Fire Captain Donald Nash responded to the wreck.

He said the beer truck was traveling east on Thomasville Road when it slammed into a black pick up truck headed south on Star Road.  Both trucks crashed into the abandoned building.

"Apparently they struck and what we got now is this Miller Lite truck stuck under the awning with the pick up actually up on the building," said Nash.

Imagine his shock when arrived on the scene.  This building used to house Nash Grocery run by his parents.  It was empty now, but he owns the property.

Nash said he lived in the rear of the building until three years ago when a dump truck crashed through the wall.   The drivers of the beer truck and pick up truck were taken to local hospitals. Their injuries are not life threatening.
