JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A deadly weekend in the magnolia state has law enforcement officers on the hunt for a killer in the capital city.

A man's bullet riddled body was found on the side of a north Jackson road.

Jackson Police Department spokesman Officer Colendula Green said police discovered the body of the 30 year old black male around 11:45 Saturday morning.

It was on the side of Manhattan Road, near Benning Road.

Investigators said the Jackson man was shot at least five times.

The victim's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

During the search for clues investigators found a gun a few yards away from the body, on the opposite side of the street.

The weapon is believed to be a nine millimeter.

"The body was discovered by an anonymous caller who called into our police headquarters, to our dispatch who told the dispatcher about the body. Once we responded we noticed the subject lying in a north direction on Manhattan Road."

Police said no motive has been determined.

No arrests have been made.
