BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - A frightening chain of events in Baton Rouge had a family scrambling for safety.
Just before midnight on Boyd Street a vehicle hit a gas meter, causing the house to burst into flames.
Thankfully everyone in the house was able to get out safely.
Police say the driver of the car was being stopped for a minor traffic violation, but instead he turned the corner and accelerated.
The driver bailed out and the car kept going, slamming into the gas meter on the side of the house.
Police say the driver is not believed to have been intoxicated.
No word yet on any charges.
