Lynn Fitch announce candidacy for State Treasurer

Posted: Updated:

Jackson, MS - There is a new candidate for State Treasurer.

Lynn Fitch is currently the Executive Director of the State Personnel Board.  She embarked on a statewide tour this morning to announce her candidacy for State Treasurer.  Fitch was named to the Personnel Board in 2009 by Governor Haley Barbour.  Other stops on her tour include Greenwood and Oxford.

Fitch says, that "right now I'm not talking about issues. I'm really talking about why I'm qualified to be hired by the voters. Feel like this is my interview and I need to explain to everybody why I am qualified to do the job and then certainly comeback and talk about certain issues. Right now I think my first job is to interview and earn the trust of voters on why I should be your next State Treasurer."

The current State Treasurer, Republican Tate Reeves, is running for Lieutenant Governor.
