"Patriot Flag" flying over Jackson

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The so-called "patriot flag" is traveling across our country, hitting 50 states in 50 weeks.

The flag is currently flying at Jackson's Central Fire Station downtown. It's to honor those who died in the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, almost ten years ago.

"This flag is a flag that will be flown in every state of the union between now and September 2011" said Jackson Deputy Fire chief Turner Luttrell. "The flag will honor the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that occurred in New York City on September 11, 2001."

The flag will be flown in New York City, Washington D.C., And Shanksville, Pennsylvania to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
