FLOWOOD, MS (WLBT) - Venture students at Northwest Rankin Elementary School are stealing the show from Maggie, Howard, Marsha and Bert.

"We do a newscast for our school," one student tells us.

The class delivers a daily newscast that includes the Pledge of Allegiance, the daily lunch menu, special announcements, the weather, and an occasional special feature.

Teacher Holly Bridwell directs the children in writing scripts, delivering them to the news desk, and anchoring in front of a green screen. Each student gets a chance to deliver the news. Bridwell records the segments, then edits the newscast on a computer. The finished product is broadcast in each classroom, each morning.

"The hardest part is taking out the errors," one student says.

"If you mess up, you have to do it again and again," says another.
