JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police are investigating a murder-suicide at a house at the intersection of Scot's Glen and Scanlon Drive in South Jackson.
A father shot his daughter with a shotgun and then turned the weapon on himself.
Stunned neighbors watched as police investigated, and AMR crews removed the bodies of 28-year-old Elliot Ragsdale and his 12-year-old daughter, Lenore Ragsdale.
Jackson Police Assistant Chief Lee Vance said his department received a call for assistance from AMR around 7 o'clock tonight.
"We found a note inside indicating perhaps the suicide on behalf of the father and the action that he took against the daughter," said Vance. "He apparently had reached out through some text messages to some friends that he knew about possibly taking his own life. Those friends then turned and contacted AMR and AMR contacted us, and that's how we ended up at the crime scene."
The two were pronounced dead at the scene. There is no word on the contents of the suicide note or the motive for the crime.
