A shooting occurs outside a sports bar in Hazlehurst

HAZLEHURST, MS (WLBT)- A shooting outside a sports bar in Hazlehurst leaves one man seriously injured.

Hazlehurst police officers received reports of shots fired just before 10:00 pm Saturday night   in the parking lot of Scraps.

The sports bar is located in the on West Whitworth Street. According to Police Chief Byron Swilley, a verbal disagreement led to a physical altercation between 42 year old Gerald Norris Jr. and 30 year old Adam Bridges.

Swilley says Bridges hit Norris over the head with a beer bottle then Norris fired two to three shots.

Bridges was airlifted to UMC. His lower body is paralyzed. Norris has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
