JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A bright, partly cloudy sky with temperatures in the upper 70's made for a nearly perfect 2011 President's Day in Central Mississippi.

But few people took advantage of the spring-like conditions.

One would have thought it was April and not the 20th of February.

Kids were having a wonderful time in the beautiful weather at Paraham Bridges Park in Northeast Jackson.

They had just come from a President's Day program at their preschool.

Parent Hayes Dale of Jackson was there with two of her three children.

"It has been a gorgeous day, a wonderful day to come out with friends and go to the park, and get the little ones together," Dale said.

Up along the Natchez Trace in Madison County, people enjoyed the new trail that goes alongside the Trace.

A group of people brought their bikes all the way up from Byram to ride the trail. They said they intended to be there, until dark.

"It's gorgeous today, beautiful weather, few clouds, nice temps, fantastic day," Kristine Phillips of Byram said. "Beautiful (trail). It's just a beautiful place, scenery is great, people are nice, seen of animals, some other folks, and a three-legged dog, its been great."

While we were surprised we didn't find more enjoying the perfect weather, those who came up got to experience temperatures in the upper 70's and a nice southwesterly breeze.
