RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Three people have been arrested in the beating death of a Rankin County man.

Twenty-four year-old Jerry Lee Dunn, 22-year-old Clarence Jones and 19-year-old Tramell Warren are charged with Capital Murder.

Sheriff Ronnie Pennington says the trio broke into 33-year-old Stephen Johnson's home at the Rankin Hills Place subdivision, near Brandon, Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Johnson's stepfather reported him missing to the Rankin County Sheriff's Department. After being beaten at his home Sheriff Ronnie Pennington says the body was dumped on a logging road some three miles south of Pelahatchie off Shiloh Road.

"I thinks they, one or two of them had worked with the deceased subject in the past. And I think they had a telephone conversation, got kind of heated, and I think their intent was to come over here and teach him a lesson. And ah they beat him to death," Sheriff Pennington added.

A judge ordered the three suspects bound over to a grand jury and held without bond. The sheriff says they beat Johnson to death and dumped his body near a baseball field.
