JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – A man asks a woman to dance and is later attacked by her jealous boyfriend, according to Jackson police.

Officer Colendula Green said police were called to the 3700 block of Medgar Evers Boulevard around five o'clock Saturday morning.

Alvin Brown Jr. of Jackson, whose age was not available, was found slashed with a box cutter in a parking lot after leaving the Purple Passion Club.

Brown told police that he had danced with a woman he did not know inside the club and was later approached by a man who said he was her boyfriend.

That man reportedly pulled out a box cutter and struck brown on his neck, right shoulder and hands.

He was transported to Central Mississippi Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The search continues for the attacker who police say will be charged with aggravated assault.
