James Hutto makes first Mississippi court appearance

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - James Hutto, the man accused of murdering an elderly Clinton woman last year, made his first court appearance this morning since being extradited back to Mississippi.

The 39-year-old had nothing to say to reporters as he entered the Hinds County Courthouse. He arrived from Alabama on Saturday to face a capital murder charge in the death of 81-year-old Ethel Simpson.

Simpson's body was found on a hog farm in Edwards after she disappeared on September 13th. She had been beaten to death.

Alabama is allowing Mississippi to prosecute Hutto before pursuing charges against him for crimes committed there, including the murder of his 68-year-old aunt.
