CLINTON, MS (WLBT) – A Clinton resident wants to know why the Mississippi Forestry Commission logged several acres of 16th section land and left a huge mess behind.
The land is on Northside Drive at the Clinton city limits.
Acres of land have been dozed down, stumps and huge trees left on the ground, rotting in two separate sections.
The Clinton resident says it's a huge eyesore on a four lane thoroughfare that leads thousands to the soccer fields. It's been this way for months.
WLBT contacted the Forestry Commission. Russell Bozeman says nothing will change because it was time to harvest the trees.
Bozeman added, what's left on the ground is part of forestry management. The debris will rot and provide nutrients
The timber was sold and some $70,000 dollars was poured into the Clinton School District.
The area is heavily residential and cannot be put under a controlled burn.
