MADISON, MS (WLBT) - Stuart Irby wouldn't answer our questions about the nature of the cyberstalking charge against him, and Madison Police were limited in what they would say about the alleged crime.

"We had been conducting an investigation of cyberstalking. As a result of the investigation, we had issued an arrest warrant for Stuart M. Irby, age 57, of Jackson, Mississippi," says Master Sergeant Kevin Newman of the Madison Police Department.

Thursday morning, Hinds County authorities executed a search warrant at Irby's home in the Eastover subdivision in Jackson. On scene for more than two hours, the Attorney General's Cyber Crimes Unit assisted as they as evidence was pulled from the home.

In the courtroom Thursday, it seemed Irby didn't know where to go and had to be directed to the podium. At one point, Irby asked Judge Dale Danks to lower the $50,000 bond. The bond remained at $50,000, and Irby posted it.

Wednesday afternoon, Jackson Police responded to a disturbance call at Irby's home. Gayle Lange, Karen Irby's mother, could press simple assault and malicious mischief charges against the 57 year old. As of Thursday afternoon, an affidavit had not been signed.

Stuart Irby's wife, Karen, is currently serving 18 years after pleading guilty last year to two counts of culpable negligence manslaughter.

Cyberstalking carries a penalty of up to two years in prison.
