BYRAM, MS (WLBT) - Families were coached on physical wellness and making good choices in Byram Saturday.
Smokey the Bear and Magruff the Crime Dog made special appearances at the Children's Health and Safety Fair.
There were lots of opportunities for exercise, including Karate and Tae Kwon Do demonstrations that stressed the importance of physical strength and flexibility.
"It keeps my mind off things that are stressful, keeps me happy all the time. I made a lot of good friends," says 16-year-old karate student Nick Berryhill.
"On their way out, they're gonna get a goodie bag and a nutritional snack. The snack is gonna have juice, an apple, a 100 calorie cereal snack, to teach them these are good tasting things that are healthy," says Becky Thomas, President of the Junior Auxiliary of Byram and Terry, which puts on the fair.
