HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The case of a burglary suspect who died after reports he was beaten by police is now being investigated by the FBI.
Sources tell WLBT News that John Bridges, 48, broke into a church in south Jackson last Thursday.
He then led officers on a high speed chase and was eventually stopped in Pearl.
After Pearl Police subdued Bridges, he was taken to the Hinds County Jail in Raymond.
He was so badly injured, officers there refused to accept him until he was taken to UMC.
Bridges was booked sometime later, but transferred back to the hospital, where he died Monday night.
An autopsy is set to be conducted Tuesday night to determine the cause of death.
