RANKIN COUNTY (WLBT) - Northwest Rankin High School Athletic Director David Coates, his 21-year-old son, and two others are in jail on felony drug charges.

Coats is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell or distribute. Joseph Patrick Coates of Oxford, a student at Ole Miss, is charged with sale of ecstasy and possession of narcotics.

Twenty-three-year-old Mary Miranda of Oxford, also an Ole Miss Student, and 54-year-old Marc Davis of Greely, Colorado, are charged with sale of ecstasy.

MBN Director Marshall Fisher says the arrests stem from a 10-month investigation of ecstasy, LSD and marijuana distribution conducted by MBN and DEA, with help from the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit and the Pearl river County Sheriff's Office.

Fisher says the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

The school district is cooperating with authorities. Officials say coach Coates has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
