NATCHEZ, MS (WLBT) - The Adams County Sheriffs department is announcing the results of a two day sex offender compliance check. Operation Innocence was held January 24-25 in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals office and neighboring counties.

Officers went door-to-door, checking to make sure those registered were living where they said they were.

Of the 58 on the registry, only five were found to be non-compliant. Three of those were arrested for violating the registration requirements. All sex offenders in the county are now compliant.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield says, "It's extremely important for us to keep with our sex offenders and know where they are, basically stay with them. We alert people when they move to neighborhood, tell them where they are, where they will be living so they can take precautions if children are around."

The Adams County Sheriffs department has also added a drug dog to their force.

Scout, a golden retriever, was bought with seized drug money. He will assist in the search of homes and vehicles and will do public relations appearances for the Sheriffs office.
