JACKSON, MS (WLBT) –There was tragic news this weekend of two separate hit and run investigations, both leaving the victims fighting for their lives.
The first involved a five year old struck by a car as she headed to a party.
Jackson police are investigating the hit and run that happened shortly after 10 o'clock Saturday night in the 400 block of Nimitz Street.
J.P.D. Officer Colendula Green said the little girl and her aunt were crossing the street when the child was hit.
Witnesses told police that a small vehicle that was possibly gold in color was speeding when it struck the girl's leg.
She suffered a fractured skull, broken right leg and several broken bones and is in critical condition at University Medical Center.
Investigators say the driver proceeded on Nimitz Street and did not stop after hitting the child.
