OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi has been selected to play in the National Invitation Tournament for the fourth time in five seasons.
Ole Miss (20-13) is a No. 5 seed, and will travel to face No. 4 California (17-14) in the first round at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Berkeley, Calif. Rebels' senior Chris Warren needs just two points in the game to become the third player in school history with 2,000 career points.
Ole Miss has had recent success in the NIT, advancing to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden in both 2008 and 2010.
Southern Miss and Mississippi State - two teams thought to be in contention for a spot in the NIT - were not selected.
