JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Jackson Metro Habitat For Humanity is celebrating its 25th year in the community, and folks from the organization need your help building more homes for local families.
By the end of this year, Habitat For Humanity volunteers would have built at least 500 houses in the Jackson metro area.
And in an effort to celebrate Habitat's 25th anniversary and help raise money to build additional habitat homes, the organization is selling hand-painted porcelain "habitat home bunnies."
Sales from the $35 collectibles will help families move out of poverty and into a Habitat home.
Maureen Wishkoski, the assistant director of marketing for the Jackson metro's Habitat For Humanity says, "many families are trapped in substandard living conditions. Paying too much of their income on rent, living in physically substandard living conditions or living in over-crowded living conditions, two families in a two bedroom apartment. So this is an opportunity to not only move out of those conditions, but better your life and give yourself a bright future and a decent home."
For more information on buying one of the home bunnies, or becoming a Habitat homeowner or volunteer, you can contact the organization at 601-353-6060.
