JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The senate amended and passed a house bill Tuesday to issue bonds for the construction of a civil rights museum.
The new senate amendment alters the funding structure by providing $15 million for the history museum and $15 million for the civil rights museum. It would require a $15 million match from the private sector.
Back in February, Representative Jim Evans tried to change the location of the civil rights museum to the Farish Street District instead of a state owned property in downtown Jackson.
