Two wrecks temporarily close I-20 westbound

HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - For the second day in a row, a major part of the interstate is cut off due to an accident. This time there are at least two different wrecks, both involving 18-wheelers on Interstate 20 near Bolton and Edwards.

In the first wreck, two 18-wheelers collided. Debris was scattered all over the westbound lanes of the interstate. Fortunately no one was injured in this accident, where traffic was being rerouted onto the frontage road.

The other accident occurred farther down I-20. An 18-wheeler headed west collided with a parked 18-wheeler where the highway was down to one lane due to construction. The driver in the parked rig was not injured, but the driver in the tractor trailer that collided with it had to be extracted from the wreck and taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Around 11:30 Thursday morning, crews got traffic moving again at both locations, but a considerable backup remained.
