Authorities turn former NW Rankin A.D.'s house upside down in search

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A bizarre sight was captured outside the home of the former Northwest Rankin High School Athletic Director who is embroiled in a drug scandal.

WLBT  received pictures from a neighbor of David Coates, who lives on Black Jack Cove in Brandon.

In the pictures, you see a box of Nasofed, which is Pseudoephedrine, the base ingredient for meth.

Rankin County Sheriff Ronnie Pennington said they seized the case of drugs which came from Hawthorne Pharmaceuticals based in Madison. The case had an expiration of 2009. In addition to the drugs, Coates house was turned inside out as his belongings were scattered across the front lawn.

Coates along with his son Joseph and daughter Mary Alice were arrested last week following a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Investigation.

David Coates was charged with possession of marijuana.
