Ridgeland, MS (WLBT) - A Ridgeland family has lost everything they own. This is an update to breaking news. Ridgeland firefighters got the call of a house fire on Ridgecrest Drive in the Timber Ridge Subdivision just before five Friday.

Video from Skycopter 3 shows Ridgeland firefighters battling the blaze. When they arrived flames were shooting from the roof of the house that is located just off Highway 51. Deputy Chief with the Ridgeland Fire Department, Kendall Golden says a teenager was inside.  A neighbor is being credited with getting him to safety.

"There was a young man that was inside the house before we got here. A neighbor banged on the windows, he was in the shower. He got out. We found out there was nobody in and we set up a defensive approach to the fire. It's pretty much a total loss. The walls are up but the inside and everything it's pretty much a total loss", said Golden.

The homeowner was too upset to talk with us. She has two sons a 15-year-old and 5-year-old. Deputy Chief Golden says they will have to wait until the area cools before investigators can be sent in to determine the cause.
