Fishermen rescue father and son from reservoir

RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) - Fishermen come to the rescue of a father and son when their truck plunged into the reservoir Saturday afternoon.

Ridgeland Police Sgt. Chad Wardlaw said a 40 year-old man and his 7 year old left the roadway and entered the water.

It happened on Dyke Road off Rice Road around 4 o'clock.

Investigators believe a medical condition caused the man to lose control of the 2005 Toyota Tacoma.

Wardlaw said two people fishing on the bank swam the truck, rolled down the window and got the man and child out of the vehicle. More boats and others on the water then joined in the rescue effort.

Both the father and son were conscious when transported to St. Dominic.

Officials said the truck is still under water.
