SHELBY COUNTY, TN (WAFB) - News cameras were not allowed in federal court, but reporters were present for the hearing Friday involving one of the Louisiana trustee's, Darian Pierce.

We're told he walked into court clad in a lime green jump suit, Wedgeworth with a grey sweat shirt and pants. The pair bolted from a work detail at the Louisiana State Police Headquarters compound nearly two weeks ago. They were both serving 25 year sentences. Pierce for attempted murder and Wedgeworth for armed robbery.

They are now suspected of taking a man's car in Mississippi, killing him, and dumping his body in Alabama. Investigators believe the men spent most of their time in Jackson, Tennessee before jacking a parks and recreation truck that they drove to Desoto County and Memphis, where authorities caught up with them.

Federal charges of unlawful flight from prosecution against the two fugitives have been dropped, but the men still face extradition to Louisiana on escape charges. Right now Pierce and Wedgeworth only have state charges against them, but a federal investigation is underway. The two could be charged in the murder of David Cupps.

They are in the custody of Shelby County, where they are awaiting extradition to Louisiana.
