Identity of man who crashed into tree now known

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - We now know the identity of the man who lost his life when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree Saturday.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart says 22-year-old Florencio Luna Gomez of Jackson died in that crash.

Investigators say Gomez was driving a 1995 Dodge Ram van when it wrecked on West Highland Drive near Lynch Street. Police were called to the scene around 4:15 a.m. Saturday.

Witnesses say he lost control of the van and struck a tree.
