JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - One of Jackson's Boys and Girls Clubs needs community support to help with the clubs everyday expenses. Parents and the community are invited to the Sykes Boys and Girls Club's monthly meeting Thursday at 6PM.
During a portion of the meeting, club officials will discuss how the community can help raise money for the center. The Sykes Boys and Girls Club in south Jackson has about 800 members. But parents are only required to pay an annual membership fee of $25 a year. Officials from the club say those membership fees don't add up enough money to pay for the club's daily expenses. So parents are being asked to step up and donate additional money and time to the club.
Billy Redd, the CEO for the Jackson Area Boys and Girls Clubs says, "95% of our kids graduate high school, our pregnancy rate is zero, this works it's worth the investment to make certain our kids keep coming here."
If you attend tonight's meeting, you'll learn more about how you can help the club out. The address is 470 Sykes Road in Jackson.
