FLOWOOD, MS (WLBT) - A Flowood recycling plant is now investigating what started a fire at the plant on Flowood Dr., Friday morning. General Recycling at 2050 Flowood Dr., caught fire at approximately 7:15 a.m., according to manager Don LeMar.
LeMar said workers were on duty at the time of the fire, but fortunately no one was hurt in the incident. LeMar said General Recycling will internally investigate what caused the blaze and added the plant suffered minimal damage.
A lieutenant with the Flowood Fire Department said they had the fire contained within hours of it starting and that any further details concerning the fire would have to come from General Recycling.
A witness who worked at a facility across Flowood Dr. said he heard an explosion at the time the fire started. LeMar denied that any explosion occurred and reported that the companies emergency plans were implemented successfully.
